Parish History (from the parish archive)
It was on December 10, 1952 when Fr. Vicar Laurencio van Rooy asked Fr. Paulus Grove, who was then pastor of Santa Cruz, to erect a new parish in Brasil District. Fr. Paulus Grove arrived in Brasil on October 31, 1952 and began his missionary task. Meanwhile, Fr. de Haas of San Nicolas and Fr. Penninx of Savaneta worked so hard in order that the preparatory school of Brasil be finished sooner than what was set on the timetable. After the construction had been done, the school was entrusted to the parish on November 6, 1953 and was blessed by Fr. Paulus Grove on November 15 of the same year. The school was named San Tarcisio. It must be remembered how the personnel of the Catholic school themselves voluntarily spared some amount from their salaries and made readily available for use in the construction of the preparatory school.
On December 6, 1953, Fr. Grove invited the parishioners to celebrate the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass for the first time in this school. That was how and what he did also during the dawn masses, popularly called "Misa di Aurora" as well as the Holy Mass on Christmas Day. Maria Wever accompanied the celebration with the organ, while the whole assembly was singing.
On July 5, 1954 the construction of the school at the northern side of the church began. Having been finished, it was blessed on February 9, 1956. This was how Brasil parish started. Fr. Paulus Grove did all the possible means to secure financial resources for this new church. Almost the whole parish and a great part of the populace of Aruba and Lago (an oil refinery based in Aruba of American investor) as welll cooperated. The support manifested by the great number of people was an unbelievable expression of their faith which impressed Fr. Grove a lot. On November 29, 1954, Msgr. Antonio van den Veen Zeppenfeldt did the ceremonial laying of the cornerstone of the church. Msgr. Zeppenfeldt himself arranged all that had something to do with the construction of the new church as well as the Parish Rectory.
During the Triduum of the Feast of Christ the King (October 28, 1955 that fell on e Friday to be exact), took place the opening and the blessing of the new church. Due to illness,
Msgr. Zeppenfeldt could not make it for the celebracion. For that reason, Fr. Vicar van Rooy was the one who officiated the solemn ceremony assisted by Fr. Paulus Grove, Fr. Inocentius de Haas of San Nicolas and Fr. Jan Standenmeyer of Savaneta. Pesent during the occasion were "gezaghebber" Mr. Lindoro C. Kwartsz, Mr. J. Horigan, Director of Lago accompanied by the Public Relation Manager, Mr. Bert Teagle, Aruba Clergy and Religious, architect Mr. G. O. Vetter, Major Veenhuys, the Marines Commandant. Likewise, in attendance were representatives of the different companies that helped financially in the construction of the church, people from mass media, and a multitude of parishioners who filled the church to great capacity in all corners. There was a solemn procession of the Blessed Sacrament and reposed it to the altar afterwards.
At that time, several Collectants were appointed, namely: Luciano Wever, Pedro Wever, Dominico Wernet and Pedro Stamper. In this solemn occasion that was indeed very impressive, in which a choir group of Friars sang, the Parish of Brasil celebrated for the very first time the Feast of Christ the King.
Among the numerous parishioners who helped in many different ways, those who served for 25 years as parish cantors, could not simply be forgotten. They were as follows: Isidora Thijsen, Reginita Tchong and Susanna Kock. Just like Maria Wever, (the woman always on the organ keyboard during liturgical celebrations) is worthy of everyone's memory, in like manner, Pedro Gonsalves, the Colectant is worth remembering, too.
Fr. Paulus Grove, was pastor for a total of 7 years as there was a period when he was assigned to Curacao having served this parish for quite some time and came back as pastor for the second time around. Then came to serve as pastor, 
Fr. Cornelis Heynsbroek for 6 years. Fr. Willem Michael Ellis was pastor for the period of 6 months only. Then followed by Fr. Rosario Weenink serving at least 3 years and a half; Fr. Jan Goes for 4 years; Fr. Jacobus Janssen for 1 month; Fr. Willy Maassen for 4 months; Fr. Jan Vijverberg for 2 and half years and Fr. Johannes Bouman for 8 years.
In the course of many decades that this parish was run by Dominican priests, for the first time ever, a Filipino was installed as pastor of Parokia Cristo Rey. 
He was no other than Fr. Tomas A. Robrigado. After serving the parish for 11 years he retired and went back to the Philippines where he severely got sick and eventually called by his Maker. As parish adminstrator, Fr. Mariano Matubis, another Filipino took care of the parish, meanwhile the local Ordinary was yet scouting for who would repalce for Fr. Robrigado. Finally, Fr. Alexis Talde, who was then assistant pastor of the Parish of St. Therese, San Nicolass, Aruba was appointed as pastor in May 1997. He is the pastor to date.
What was so impressive was that the parishioners themselves worked so hard to stablish a parish community. The members of the Parish Council, in collaboration with the pastor delibirately planned together to promote active life in the parish. The members of the Legion of Mary worked hard untiringly doing their apostolate. The Association ot the Sacred Heart of Hesus and likewise the encumbent organizations in those times dedicated themselves uplifting spiritual life. The celebration of the Silver Jubilee of the parish was an expression of the Christian life after 25 years of evangelization. This Jubilee was celebrated to dedicate special attention to all the parishioners. A celebration in one-week-time was launched to give honor to the patron, Christ the King of the Universe. This time once more with feelings, the whole parish community had got all the possible means necessary to realize the goal planned beforehand.
On November 16, 1980, a Sunday at 7:00 in the morning, a Holy Sacrifice of the Mass was held to give particular attention to the erderly in the community. After the mass, these señor citizens went for a recreational trip all around Aruba boarding on a hired bus. On that very day, another Holy Sacrifice of the Mass has held at 6:00 o'clock in the evening exclusively dedicated for the parish youth. A movieshow was held at the Colegio Cristo Rey intended for the youth after Holy Mass. Likewise, a movieshow was held on November 18, 1980 at the same venue for the same audience.
During the week of that celebration, the so-called "Committee 25th", whose members were parishioners who prepared for the Silver Jubilee celebration, came together for a certain works of charity. They visited poor families, the sick and the prisoners. During the first day of the Triduum a Holy Sacrifice of the Mass was held at 7:00 o'clock in the evening assisted by the choir from San Nicolas. The homily was delivered by Fr. Rodrigo Zuluaga of the Parish of Sta. Filomena, Paradera.
It was on the second day of the Triduum that a Holy Mass with administration of the Sacrament of Confirmation was held, officiated by His Excellency Msgr. Willem Michael Ellis, Bishop of the Diocese of Willemstad. There was a Pontifical Mass on November 23, 1989, the Feast of Christ the King at 7:00 p.m. ushered by the Procession of the Blessed Sacrament.
It is worthwhile to mention however, that in the beginning of this solemn celebration there was a blessing of the image of Christ the King which happened to be the Patron of the parish.
